Yan'an University, located in Yan'an, the sacred site of the Chinese revolution, is the first comprehensive university founded by the Communist Party of China and personally named by Comrade Mao Zedong. Established in 1937, its predecessors included more than ten revolutionary-era schools such as Shaanbei Public School and Lu Xun Academy of Arts.
