Federal Rural University of Rio De Janeiro

The Federal University of Rural Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ) is a long-established and highly reputable public higher education institution in Brazil. Founded in 1910 as an agricultural and veterinary college, it aimed to promote agricultural development and rural progress in Brazil. Its main campus, located in Cerro Petica, Rio de Janeiro state, boasts a vast area and abundant natural surroundings, making it one of the largest university campuses in Latin America. UFRRJ is renowned for its outstanding contributions to agricultural science, veterinary medicine, and related technologies. UFRRJ offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs covering agricultural science, biological science, engineering, humanities, and social sciences. The university has significant teaching and research strengths in agricultural engineering, food science, forestry, animal science, and environmental science. The university is committed to cultivating outstanding individuals with professional knowledge and practical skills through high-quality teaching, cutting-edge research, and community service, contributing to sustainable development in Brazil and globally. Its research projects frequently collaborate with local agricultural industries and government agencies to solve practical problems. The beautiful, tree-lined campus provides students with a unique learning and living experience. Due to its rural nature, campus life is relatively tranquil, but the university actively organizes various cultural, sports, and academic activities to enrich students' extracurricular life. For international students, UFRRJ offers tuition-free education, significantly reducing the cost of studying abroad. However, the main campus's relatively remote location may make transportation less convenient than universities in city centers, and students should be aware of safety issues in the surrounding area. Nevertheless, UFRRJ remains an ideal choice for students seeking advanced studies in agricultural and environmental sciences.
