Gannan Medical University, located in Ganzhou, a historical and cultural city in Jiangxi Province, is a provincial undergraduate university with medicine as its main focus, and coordinated development in science, engineering, literature, and management. Its predecessor was the Jiangxi Provincial Ganxian Senior Midwifery Vocational School, founded in 1941. After several developments and name changes, it was officially named Gannan Medical University in 1988.
