Yunnan Minzu University, located in Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan Province, known as the "Spring City," is a comprehensive university jointly established by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and the Yunnan Provincial People's Government. Founded in 1951 as Yunnan Nationalities Institute, it is one of the earliest higher education institutions for ethnic minorities established in New China.
