Manchester School of Architecture

The Manchester School of Architecture (MSA) is an innovative collaboration between the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University, established in 1996 through the merger of their respective architecture departments. Currently ranked 5th globally in the QS Architecture rankings 2025, MSA is one of the largest architecture schools in the UK with over 1,000 students from more than 80 countries. The school offers professionally recognized undergraduate and postgraduate degrees accredited by institutions such as the Architects Registration Board (ARB) and Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). Students benefit from the combined resources and expertise of both universities, including access to libraries, workshops, and facilities across both campuses. The school is housed in the Kantorowich Building and is known for its Manchester Architectural Research Centre (MARC), which conducts multidisciplinary research in areas including urban design, ecological design, and historic environment conservation.
